About the resort

Costa Brava is one of the most beautiful places in Spain; this is the reason why it is also one of the most popular among tourists. Costa Brava has a lot of beautiful resorts ready to receive tourists and one of them is Tossa de Mar. The resort, situated close to the France border and very accessible from Barcelona, became popular around the year 1950, when Ava Gardner filmed a movie there, called “Pandora and the Flying Dutchman”. Now, Tossa de Mar is a very popular place, as tourists go there attracted by the beautiful medieval quarter. The medieval quarter is called Vila Vella and it dates back to the 12th century; its main purpose was to protect the town from pirate attacks. The quarter is formed out of cobbled streets, which are like heaven for tourists, because the souvenir shops are like home here. You can find bargains in many of them, taking home some nice memories to savour later on.

The Tossa de Mar attractions

Tossa de Mar is renowned for its Museum, housed in a 14th century house which used to belong to the governor of the city. Inside the museum tourists can admire a collection of old objects from the prehistoric era and up to the middle Ages, objects that tell the history of the area. There is another thing that makes Tossa de Mar so special: its wonderful views. It seems like nature has created a heaven on Earth in Tossa de Mar, which makes this resort very popular among artists. This is no wonder because the town is situated in the centre of a protected area.

Since you are in one of the resorts in Costa Brava, it is impossible not to enjoy the water and the sun. The beach in Tossa de Mar, the Playa Gran, is absolutely spectacular; the sand is delicate and the water is great for water sports, such as yachting, sailing or windsurfing. If you are a diver, then you should try the small isles in Medes, situated very close to the coast. You will be amazed by the clear water and the wide range of fish that you can admire. If you want to relax after a busy day of water sports and sightseeing, you can choose one of the nice restaurants that serve delicious traditional dishes. You should try this resort at least once, as it is going to be a very pleasant holiday.
